Near & Far: Plein Air in County Parks
A great opportunity to benefit Santa Barbara County Parks and to exhibit at Channing Peake Gallery and Betteravia Galleries is coming up at the end of October.

Santa Barbara County Parks is the steward of over 2,000 acres of parks, beaches, open spaces, historical landmarks, and miles of trails all over the county. This exhibition will feature paintings that celebrate the beauty and diversity of these unique resources in a variety of artistic styles and media. The ingathering is October 25, 2014, 9:00 -11:00 am at Channing Peake Gallery. (Please enter through the back door.) The juror will be nationally known plein air artist, David Gallup. We are requesting that artists also submit a CD with high resolution (5” x 7” @ 300 dpi) digital images of all entries to be used for publicity. We are also requesting that if you have paintings already finished that you will be submitting to this show, please send digital images to Exhibits Co-Chair, Jane Hurd, jhurd@janehurd.com in advance so we can begin some early publicity. Artists will donate 40% of sales to the County Park Foundation and 10% to S.C.A.P.E. for operating expenses. And, as a bonus, Santa Barbara County Parks has allocated $3,000 for art funds to purchase paintings from the show.

Receptions will be during 1st Thursday Artwalks in November, December and February in Santa Barbara. The exhibition will then travel to Santa Maria where it will hang in the Betteravia Galleries until May 21, 2015. Art can be picked up at Channing Peake on May 22, 2015 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.
