A Message from Dorene White
What a wonderful year of art! S.C.A.P.E. continues to make a difference in the world. We have shown others the wonders of the UCSB reserves, the Gaviota coast and our county parks, and sent our message of beauty and hope into the homes of many people. Plus paintings sales have provided well over $20,000 to local non-profits. Fil and Jerry have created wonderful paint-out experiences. Our education and workshops have been well-attended and enriched our members’ lives.
2016 looms and the board has been working hard to get ready for a special year. Several shows with old and new beneficiaries are being organized. This year we will have two shows at the Goleta Library. In February, our show will benefit Fairview Gardens. Then in November Wildlife Care Network will benefit from our show at the Goleta Library.
Gaviota show will be May 13 and 14 this year, again at the Bacara Resort. In July we will have a show at the Faulkner benefitting the Surfrider Foundation. Then in October, we are planning a show with the Wildling Museum. We will be introducing on-line entries for shows and will have several training sessions to prepare all of us.
Cezanne has put together two workshops already, Larry Iwerks and Randall Sexton, which have been filling quickly. Lots of painting possibilities and paint-outs will be planned for our numerous shows.
As our membership gradually grows we endeavor to keep our friendly face. Please join us for paint-outs even if it is just to say ‘hi’. We will have other opportunities to get together also.
Keep painting, and please know that, by painting, you are making this a more peaceful and harmonious world.
