Become a member of SCAPE and participate in this fun annual event as well as more exhibitions and paint-outs throughout the year. 

 

ART ALONG THE CREEK: Restoring Land, Restoring Lives will be held on Memorial Day weekend May 23,24 & 25, 2015 at the corner of Mountain Drive and Mission Canyon Rd. (across from Rocky Nook Park). The al fresco art show, now in its eighth year, benefits the restoration of habitat along Mission Creek for Phoenix Santa Barbara. Artists must be members of SCAPE to participate in the group shows throughout the year. 

Enjoy the company of others who paint and have access to painting workshops with top-notch professionals by becoming a member of SCAPE for only $35 a year. This is the most far-reaching show with many different styles of art such as:  landscapes or cityscapes, floral, still life, portraits, figurative, abstract, mixed media, surreal, or symbolic. Sculptures may be submitted however they must have their own stands. Ribbons and monetary prizes totaling $400 or more will be awarded in seven categories: Figurative, Abstract, Landscape, Still Life, Beneficiary’s Choice and Mayor’s Choice.

ART ALONG THE CREEK ingathering is Saturday May 23, from 9- 11am at the site of the show. Park in Rocky Nook Park, walk over the bridge, and follow the path to 37 Mountain Drive entrance. All members are welcome to enter. You can even join SCAPE at the ingathering. Ingathering fees are $10 per painting and $25 for three paintings. No limit on size or number of entries. This is a good opportunity to exhibit big paintings, which might be selected for corporate headquarters, hotels, and hospitals as well as personal collections. Paintings must be wired and ready to hang.  Juror is artist and teacher Tom Henderson, who is represented by the prestigious Easton Gallery of Montecito, a guest artist in Oak Group shows, and popular teacher at Adult Ed.

The show will be juried, curated, and hung on Saturday. May 23. We open to the public that day from 2 – 6 pm; Sunday & Monday hours for the show are 11a – 6p. A special reception on Sunday, from 1:30 – 3 pm, to present awards and honor our Guest Artist Don Crocker There will be music throughout the weekend and prizes will be awarded, including a Mayor’s Award and Beneficiary’s Award .  So come to the reception and bring your family and friends!
