Join acclaimed painter Randall Sexton for an encore visit to Santa Barbara. Take away new ideas, inspiration and fresh work!

“This workshop will focus on the intrinsic beauty of Santa Barbara. The natural surroundings and Spanish colonial architecture of the downtown provide a wealth of subject matter for the plein air painter. The fundamentals of painting: Composition, Value, Color, Edges and Paint Quality will be reviewed and practiced. Randall will give demonstrations and plenty of individual attention will be given.”

Highly sought after as an instructor, Randall has a hands-on approach to teaching that involves sharing his technique and knowledge, yet focuses on the individual needs of each student.  Randall holds a BFA from the University of Connecticut; he teaches at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco and exhibits with John Pence Gallery in San Francisco, Nancy Dodds in Carmel, Firethorn Gallery in Palm Springs, Fountainside Gallery in Willington, NC and Waterhouse Gallery in Santa Barbara. His work has been featured in Southwest Art and American Artist.

Randall participates widely in contemporary California plein air events, winning awards at some of the most prestigious such as the Laguna Plein Air Painters annual summer event.  In early 2006, Randall won Best of Show and the Artist Choice Award at the first annual Maui Plein Air Competition.

Known for his bold and colorful plein air paintings of Northern California, Sexton also enjoys working in the studio. The direct and spontaneous nature of plein air painting influences all his paintings –still life, figurative, and studio work based on field studies and travels.
