July Show: Wilderness to Gallery Exhibit at the Faulkner
Ingathering: July 2, Saturday, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Faulkner Gallery at Santa Barbara Library. The fee to enter will be $10 per painting or $25 for three. This will be a month-long exhibit (July 2 to July 31) featuring all media or styles -- landscape, portraits, figurative, architecture, interiors, still life, florals, contemporary, abstract and surreal, representing the diversity of our California wilderness ( No giclées or prints please). Gala reception with Los Padres ForestWatch members, July 7, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM to coincide with Santa Barbara First Thursday events. Come join us in celebrating! Refreshments, Music, Fun! Download SCAPE's 2011 Exhibits and Workshops postcard Only SCAPE members have the privilege to participate in SCAPE exhibits. Please click here for membership information. Artists may also join SCAPE at the ingathering.Ingathering costs for each show are $10 for one painting and $25 for three. There is no limit to the number of paintings that may be juried into the exhibits. Artists are invited to submit paintings in all styles and media, and collage or assemblage. We don't exhibit photographs or digital art. All paintings must be framed with wires on the back for hanging. The jurors will look for well-executed paintings that adhere to the theme of the exhibit. They will also consider the quality and appropriateness of framing. There will be monetary and honorary awards given at each exhibit. Artists whose paintings are selected for exhibits are expected to work at least three hours before or during the exhibit or pay $40. 50% of sales will go to the artists, 40% will be donations to the exhibit's beneficiary and 10% will go to SCAPE. (Artists will receive 60% at the Botanic Garden show.) Insurance on artwork submitted is the responsibility of the artist. Though care will be taken, SCAPE will not be responsible for damage or theft. If your work is seen at the exhibit and purchased after the exhibit by that buyer at your studio, please respect the terms of the show. This month-long show will benefit Los Padres ForestWatch, a community-based nonprofit organization that is leading efforts to protect the Los Padres National Forest and other public lands along California's Central Coast. Through innovative field work, scientific collaboration, and legal advocacy, ForestWatch works to preserve and restore the forests, mountain streams, rolling hills, wetlands, coastal areas, and wildlife of this spectacular area that we love to paint. 
Thanks to all who answered our call to artists for another successful show! We had close to 300 works in the show and sold 38 paintings. We made $13,300 in sales plus more than $2,500 in ingathering fees and new memberships – a total of over $15,800 in income from this show. Each year we have had one or two major patrons. Last year it was a rock star. This year a couple who are friends of Phoenix bought $4,000 worth of art. Thanks to them and all our patrons for supporting art and the environment.
