Call to Artists – EDC Exhibit at La Arcada Last Show for 2008

**An important date coming up is the deadline of May 20th for our La
Arcada EDC Show's "IMAGE INGATHERING" for the invitation and publicity.
Instead of bringing paintings to a location, please email high quality
72 dpi DIGITAL IMAGE JPGS to Mary Hart Lee at hartleeart@verizon.net or
mail photographs to Marty at PO Box 484, Carpinteria, CA 93014 by
TUESDAY, MAY 20TH. A committee of SCAPE & EDC representatives will
chose images for the invitation and publicity for this show.

At this show we would like images such as the coast from Naples to
Gaviota, Arroyo Hondo Preserve, Carpinteria Bluffs, Channel Islands,
Douglas Family Preserve/Wilcox, Ellwood Shores, Haskell's Beach,
Sedgwick Reserve, Newhall Ranch, Ahmanson Ranch or San Marcos
Foothills, as well as any location in the EDC's Case Docket from
Ventura, Santa Barbara or San Luis Obispo Counties described on their
website at http://www.edcnet.org/casedocket.html.

All artists are expected to sign up before or at the ingathering to work a shift before or during the exhibit OR pay a $40 fee. If you don't get in the show, you will not have to work. Insurance on art pieces submitted and/or exhibited is the responsibility of the artist. If your work is seen at the exhibit and purchased after the exhibit by that buyer at your studio, please respect the terms of the show. Only SCAPE members have the privilege to participate in SCAPE exhibits, so please see our membership forms and mail a check to our PO Box made out to SCAPE for $35. Membership questions? EDC SHOW DATES

WHEN: July 19 & 20th (Saturday & Sunday) 2008, 11 a.m. - ¬6 p.m.

WHERE: La Arcada Court between the Library and the SB Art Museum

THE SHOW INGATHERING WILL BE: FRIDAY, JULY 18th 2008 10:00 am to 12:30
p.m.

Location: Faulkner Gallery at the S.B. Main Library, 40 E. Anapamu St.

Pick up: 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.. However, we plan to have phone numbers you
can call to save yourself a trip!

Fee: $10 per piece or three pieces for $25 (No limit on number of
submissions)

JUROR: To be announced.

PRIZES: Totaling $500 in various categories.

Due to logistical issues with the venue for the Sedgwick Reserve show in Los Olivos, we are sorry to report that the show has been cancelled.

Santa Barbara Botanic Garden Show summary:

Thanks to the 44 artists who submitted the 116 paintings. 9 paintings sold, even though it was an extremely hot weekend with such canyon heat not being conducive to art shopping. The Art show coincided with the Gardens Annual Plant Sale and a book signing in the late afternoon Saturday, which brought in a steady flow of people. It was a fun and beautiful show with many, many positive comments."

Only SCAPE members have the privilege to participate in SCAPE exhibits. Please click here for membership information. Artists may also join SCAPE at the ingathering.

Ingathering costs for each show are $10 for one painting and $25 for three. There is no limit to the number of paintings that may be juried into the exhibits.

Artists are invited to submit paintings in all styles and media, and collage or assemblage. We don't exhibit photographs or digital art. All paintings must be framed with wires on the back for hanging. The jurors will look for well-executed paintings that adhere to the theme of the exhibit. They will also consider the quality and appropriateness of framing.

There will be monetary and honorary awards given at each exhibit.

Artists whose paintings are selected for exhibits are expected to work at least three hours before or during the exhibit or pay $40.

50% of sales will go to the artists, 40% will be donations to the exhibit's beneficiary and 10% will go to SCAPE. (Artists will receive 60% at the Botanic Garden show.)

Insurance on artwork submitted is the responsibility of the artist. Though care will be taken, SCAPE will not be responsible for damage or theft. If your work is seen at the exhibit and purchased after the exhibit by that buyer at your studio, please respect the terms of the show.
