Message from our PRESIDENT

By Linda Faye Collins

Hello All,

It was a lovely exhibit at the Music Academy last month.  Congratulations to all who participated.  Your board is now turning its attention to shaping up the committees for next year, under our new President, Kathy McGill.  If you haven't done so already, and are willing to help in even a small way, please email me and let us know.

While l will be stepping down as president, I will remain as treasurer, and will  have the privilege of continuing to enjoy the company of our other delightful board members.

EXHIBIT NEWS

A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO ALL!

A very big and grateful thank you to all of the volunteers of our Fall Show at the Music Academy, October 14 and 15 "Trails Parks and Open Spaces". It was a very beautiful and well received show. Congratulations to the artists that sold their paintings.

Especially thankful for the set up and take down crew chair Filiberto Lomeli and all his helpers.  It is a big job and we really needs some younger in body workers, as a lot of us are getting a bit older and can’t lift as much anymore.

Douglas Family Preserve

2551 Medcliff Rd, Santa Barbara, CA 93109

The Douglas Family Preserve formerly known as the Wilcox property was donated to Santa Barbara city in 1997 and since become one of SB’s favorite walking areas. Perched above our beloved Arroyo Beach, this preserve offers 70 acres of trees, chaparral, and ocean views.  Because the property runs east to west, we’re provided with sublime sunrises and vibrant sunsets. To up your steps there is a main trail that loops the around the park’s perimeter with a plethora of smaller paths that breaks off of it. If you’re up for a challenge there are wonderful opportunities for tree filled foregrounds and distant ocean horizons. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for dolphins, whales, surfers, and para-gliders, as these bluffs are a hot spot for thermal seekers.

The Douglas Preserve is also dog friendly meaning you’re more then welcome to bring along your four-legged friends as you explore the various paths in search for a painting site.

Please enjoy your time creating art, stick to the trails, and pack all your trash.
